Does this name sound old/dorky/stupid?

I'm giving a name to a character for something I have to write for school, and I'm horrible with matching a name to a personality. The name is Melly. The character is supposed to be artsy, shy-ish, funny, and a go with the flow sort of person. If it doesn't sound like that, can you give a suggestion. Oh, by the way, the name is supposed to be a nickname for Margaret. The person just hates her real name and tells everyone it's whatever her nickname will be. Thanks for any help you can give : )
